Being fit is most people’s dream, but very few have accomplished this. Being fit entails body, health and mind. It affects our wellbeing and ultimate life span. The idea of keeping fit can be daunting to those who don’t have the time or money to do so effectively. There are many ways to stay fit on a budget and most importantly, they can be just as fun and effective as the more expensive methods. Here are a few ways to stay fit on a budget.


1. Train at home

Being fit can start at home. There are many things that can be utilized at home every day to help keep fit. Instead of going up and down the stairs when necessary, how about running up and down a few times each day. This is zero dollar investment to burn maximum calories in a short time. Canned beans can be used for weights when walking around and stretches can be accomplished on counters and sturdy furniture any time. If you prefer, you could purchase a few home gym equipment such as kettle bells, a jump rope, resistant bands and maybe a yoga mat. A lot can be accomplished with these few cheaper exercise equipment. Try working out for a few minutes each day and you will be surprised at how well you can maintain a physically fit body.

2. Exercise around the neighborhood

Most neighborhood have parks and recreation facilities. Walking and jogging are popular ways to maintain fitness and don’t cost a penny! Add a little kick to your jog routine. Stop at the park and do some aerobic and stretch exercises. There are many ways to keep fit, just mix it up and try different things. Do sprints, lunges, squats, planks, and sit ups, you will find the routine fun and will want to do this every day. Most importantly, you will save every fitness buck. This is one of the best ways to keep fit on a budget.

3. Eat and drink to keep fit

Do not spend your hard earned money on protein and energy drinks. The same or better health benefits can be obtained by making your own special meals and beverages. Try shakes with protein powder, fruits, nuts and vegetables. Invest in seeds like chia and flax for added health and protein benefits. Eat pink salmon and various legumes. Remember, when you prepare your meals you have complete control over the cost and quality. Eating healthier and more balanced can save you a lot of money in the long run. You will not have to purchase many of the supplements you would naturally obtain from your nutrient rich meals and juices.

4. Use free technology

There are many apps and videos that offer free fitness guides and would help you accomplish fitness tasks. If you have internet, you can access many demonstration videos to help you meet your goals for free. One such site is fitness blender. I have used this site for many years and can’t stop talking about the results.

Keeping fit is something we should be able to accomplish without spending too much.
